It is natural to expect experiences of being specially connected with the Beloved – spiritual sensationalism. While we meditate, we may see, hear, or feel the divine presence in many ways. Many times, however, we will not experience the divine in any form. As a result, we may feel that something is wrong.
Nevertheless, we should not give up our time of prayer and meditation, no matter how tedious it becomes. The small amount of time we do spend in prayer and meditation should be given wholly to the Beloved. We are not to abandon the relationship that is the very core of our existence.
When things in our life become less than pleasurable, we naturally want them to become easier. Nevertheless, the spirit needs to roam where it is guided, and we can join in this courageous adventure by allowing it to accomplish what it needs to do.
Coming into our quiet place of being, we bring our self fully into the presence of the Beloved, not expecting anything, only coming to give—of our self and our time. We give freely, and allow our self to simply be with the One who loves us. Let our spirit roam where it needs to—let our courage emerge to help us and bless our life for all that it is.
Philippians 4:12-13 “I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”
