We see and understand a painting from a distance, but as we come closer, or look at it from a different angle, we notice something we didn't before. The painting didn’t change, but our perspective changed and so did our interpretation of it.
The same is true for understanding various elements within our faith. We may have been understanding certain Bible passages to mean one thing for many years, but when we did a little digging into some of the historical contexts, or read a theology or history book that sheds some light on that passage, our perception and interpretation of that passage changed. Our understanding changed as we looked a bit closer at the details.
Change is a part of life. Changes include our Faith (WHO we believe in), our Theology (WHAT we believe about who we believe in), and our Theopraxy (HOW we choose to live out and practice our faith and theology).
Truth never changes, but as we grow spiritually, our perception of truth does.
1 Corinthians 2:10,12 "It was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For His Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us."
