We live in a time when society values external validations of success. We have been enculturated to always want and need more, and believe we even deserve more. However, the more we own, the less we enjoy. This is the paradox of materialism. And because we seek better or more stimulating experiences, the spiral of addiction and consumption continues.
The true goal of religion is the experience of unity with God. Out of this experience is a sense of satisfaction and abundance that makes it possible to live simply.
We realize we lack nothing because our abundance is from a deeper level inside us and we're able to draw from this abundance and share it freely with others.
Matthew 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field."
