Everything about life today is frenzied that we struggle for calm, not with the daily bustle but with the frantic exertions and demands of our mind. We are constantly stimulated by social media, advertising, work and school programs, church events, and our own inner clamor.
Even our “Quiet Time” is anything but quiet, as we run through one spiritual task after another until we can tick it off our list with satisfaction. Our bodies sit but our minds race, and the idea of stillness seems almost unattainable.
Learning to be quiet before the Lord is one of the greatest challenges we face today in our quest to enter His presence and experience true intimacy with Him. It is imperative and indispensable, therefore, to develop the discipline of remaining still if we want to experience true intimacy with God.
Luke 10:41-42 "But the Lord said to her, 'My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.'"
