There are two powers that ignite us, motivate us, and determine our entire experience for as long as they reign: love versus fear.

Our ego is fear-based and uses tricks like anxiety, shame, and obsessive thinking to force us into misinformed action. Because it's rooted in fear, the actions we take based on the voice of ego usually don't reflect our best self. The ego is the dominant voice in our heads. It is so dominating that we come to believe its voice (our thoughts) is who we are and what truth is.

Our soul, on the other hand, is the voice of love. While our ego is fueled by our mind, our soul is connected to God. It has no attachment to fear. Its job is to support our expansion and growth. It simply wants to light us up and encourage us to explore the unknown for inspiration toward our highest good. Our soul has very little interest in keeping us safe, but it is really invested in setting us free.

We are exhorted to quiet our minds, to be still, so that God, through our soul, may direct our life and that we would know Him and His glory.

John 14:27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid."

Luke 10:41-42 But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; but only one thing is necessary; for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
