In holy scripture, change is the operative dynamic of a world in which a “living” God, a dynamic divine constant, is understood to be present and participatory. The good news of the gospel is the very proclamation of change, of an imminent and intended reversal of the way things are going; with the repeated call to change and envision a new and transforming way of seeing, hearing, being. There is to be a reordering to the created order that is in disorder; from the way things are, to the way things are going to be, or supposed to be. There needs to be a return, a rebirth to how we were all created.
Being made in the image of God provides the basis for our work and vocation. If we are made in the image of God, we share his characteristics. Also, knowing the basis for our dignity and worth helps us know that we have gifts and talents to employ.
Rediscovering the biblical doctrine of work begins with understanding who we are and where we came from. It begins with knowing we are made in the image of God.
Ephesians 4: 24 "put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth."
