Our human nature prompts us to think that God will give us whatever our little hearts desire, that God would grant whatever we ask, especially in prayer. But realizing the context of Psalm 37:4 will help us better comprehend what it means to be given the desires of our heart and what it means to delight in the Lord.
We pursue God because, and only because, He has first put an urge within us, in our soul, that spurs us to the pursuit and when the Holy Spirit shows us God as He is, we admire Him to the point of wonder and DELIGHT.
Psalm 37:4 "Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart."
