When we consider the spectrum of life, it begins at birth and ends with death.
However, even while living this temporal and death-bound existence, if we die to our self and enter into a personal relationship with God, a new spiritual life begins; we secure what He so earnestly desires for us, a life with Him through all eternity.
Dying to self is setting aside anything pertaining to our false self and choosing God instead. Dying to our false self is about our illusory wants and desires - everything from our ego-induced reality.
All that is untrue is laid to rest in order that truth and love may be resurrected in us.
Matthew 16:25/Luke 9:24 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.
