Creation is a process that is still happening and winding up, and even better, we are in on it! We are a part of this endless creativity of God.
It is difficult, however, to see that this groaning and giving birth proceeds by a process of conflict, crisis, and then rebirth, a process of losses and gains.
This movement of history cannot be stopped. There is always a leaven that remains, a critical mass, a few people who get it. History proceeds and the Second Coming of Christ is this ever-new level of Christ-people that keeps emerging despite continual regression into “passion and death,” exactly as revealed in the body of Jesus.
Everything is moving toward unity. There is temporary conflict and complexity, but that increased complexity paradoxically moves to another unity on a higher level.
Matthew 24:6-8 “And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.”
