To follow Jesus is not to remain unmoving, is not to have a theology that is secure and comfortable, and continue living lives that are free from conflict.
On the contrary, God takes us into the mess and conflict of life. The Gospel accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John reveal that following Jesus is to live a whole new way of life where issues, pain, suffering, and conflict are ever-present.
To be a Christian is about a whole new way of being human in our world facing a challenge-filled life with dignity, confidence, truthfulness, and hope.
