Love is endlessly alive and eternally life-giving.

When we die, we reach the culmination of the capacity we have developed to give and to receive love. This is our own “final judgment” of ourself, which means we have become ultimately and deeply responsible for the choices we made while alive, deeply responsible. No wonder, this is the common testimony of people who have gone through near-death experiences.

If we have not received or even withheld the gift of love to others, our soul remains in a desolate world which is probably what we mean by hell. God can only give love to those who want it.

Choosing to live in love is mostly a choice. And the eagerness to learn the ever deeper ways of love and loving is the unearned grace that follows.

Deuteronomy 30:20 "You can make this choice by loving the LORD your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life."
