We cannot undo the past. When we make mistakes, we worry that we’ve fallen out of God’s will. This is ego-deception.
So instead of trying to forget it, we need to rejoice in God's grace that delivered us from our guilt and the haunting power of our misdeeds.
God perfectly accomplishes all He desires. His plan for us is right on track despite our mistakes. In fact, the mystery is, that our mistakes actually serve His plan.
God’s will for us is right where we’re standing, whether in the sunshine of our hopes, or the storm of our regrets. And it always will be. He reigns. He rules.
God’s providence includes our choices, our actions, and the consequences that flow from them. So when we make bad decisions, stupid mistakes, or careless choices, yes, we will have to live with the consequences in this world. But not alone. Not to our undoing. God has a hopeful plan for us beyond this world that spans eternity. And no mistake of ours can undo it.
Paul always thought of himself as the chief of sinners because he had slaughtered Christians - “My identity in myself, if I have to look at myself, is chief of sinners, but that's not my real identity. My real identity is in Christ, seated with Him in heavenly places. While I was dead in trespasses and sins, by nature a child of wrath, he delivered me.”
That too is our true identity.
Romans 8:38-39 "I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord."
