humility and faith

Being humble, for most people today, is a form of weakness. The common thinking is that if someone practices humility, it means they’re not a “go-getter” and don’t care about performance or working hard.

However, true humility is the realization of our total dependency upon God and prepares our heart for living in a posture of trusting God without having self-sufficiency or pride.

As we humble ourselves, that is when we activate our faith and truly worship Him.

The biblical accounts of the centurion in Matthew 8:10 and the woman of Canaan in Matthew 17:28 attest to how Jesus affirmed their faith and were blessed because of their humility.

Philippians 2:5-11 "You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
