in heaven now

With His resurrection, Jesus revealed the truth about our humanity – “that we are able to share in the divine nature” (2 Peter 1:4), even in this wounded and wounding world. In Luke’s resurrection story, Jesus said, “I am not a ghost! I have flesh and bones, as you can see” (Luke 24:39). In other words, “I am human!”—which means to be wounded and yet resurrected at the same time.

Jesus returned to his physical body, and yet he was unlimited by space or time. That Jesus’ body still carried his wounds reveals an important and powerful symbolism – “Our wounds are our glory.” The resurrection is saying that we, like Jesus, are larger than life, we are good, true, and beautiful – that we are heaven.

Jesus revealed, through His resurrection, the truth about us through Him. That we can have faith in knowing that we can actually live this outflowing abundant life with gracious trust. That our salvation is being at home both here and forever.

That God loves and accepts us now in our broken state, and His love would remain beyond death. It is the same God before and after our death. God wants us to enjoy heaven now without fear. Salvation is not a question of if, but of when and how much we desire and accept God’s love and presence.

Hebrews 10:19-22 “And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.”
