The Christian moral life is rooted in the awareness that every person bears the dignity of being made in the image of God. Man is made of an immortal soul that allows us to discern and understand the essence of things entrenched in His creation. We are also gifted with free will to seek and love what is true, good, and beautiful.
Sadly, because of the Fall, we also suffer the impact of Original Sin - the birth of our ego, which darkens our minds, weakens our wills, and inclines us to transgress.
We are endowed with both the powerful surge toward good because we are made in the image of God, and the dark urge toward evil because of the effects of Original Sin.
John 7:24 "Do not judge according to appearance."
John 8:15 "You judge me by human standards, but I do not judge anyone."
