love-abiding

All of our ethical responsibilities come down to duty and desire. While we adhere to moral obligation, it is much more difficult to instill a desire for its adherence. This is why the Ten Commandments are not enough.

The law must be taught with love and intimacy. If teaching and enforcement of the law are without the grace, love, and truth of the gospel, we should be strongly warned.

We are not saved by mere obedience to the law; rather, Christ extends grace to those who believe in him.

Yet though the law is not a means of salvation, it can still establish principles for each individual’s conscience, enabling us to make wise ethical decisions in personal and public life.

Galatians 5:1 "So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law."

Ephesians 2:8-9 "God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it."
