There is no birth, no coming, no growth, no progress, and no transformation without pain and suffering.
Love is what and who we are as an outpouring from God and suffering is our opening to that need, that desire, and that identity. Love and suffering are the main portals that open our mind and our heart, breaking us into breadth and depth and communion.
All who love greatly are certain to suffer much because we have surrendered and given up control to another. This is the simple definition of suffering: whenever we are not in control.
Mark 12:30-31 “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. The second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.”
