Religion is about healing (salvation = salus = healing.) Nevertheless, since the Edict of Milan on February 313 AD (agreement to treat Christians benevolently within the Roman Empire) the church’s concern was more about maintaining order. In general, it resolved issues of the soul by juridical and “transactional” means. The emphasis was mainly to absolve sin more than actually helping in the continuous transformation of people.
The two things that Jesus did repeatedly were preaching and healing; the church, however, has done a lot of preaching, but not too much in helping people with healing and holistic wellbeing.
Healing depends upon relating with love and compassion. It is important to remember that the ego contracts around problems, but love and the soul are drawn by meaning and abundant living.
Revelation 21:4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”
