Love is relational and its intent is to keep lovers united, a singularity. Christ's sacrifice was to return us in union with God. Forgiveness was God's greatest act of love.
A life without forgiveness is a lonely life imprisoned in the solitary confinement of transgression. Unless we humbly accept the forgiveness of God, His greatest act of love, we would be devoid of His promised abundant life.
Consequently, we regain grace and grow in truly loving when forgiveness flows freely from our hearts. Nothing pleases our Father more, no evidence of our love can be as delightful to Him.
Ephesians 5:1-2 "Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God."
