The light that enlightens all things, enables us to see things in their fullness. Christ was not telling us to look just at him when he calls himself the “Light of the World” (John 8:12) but to look out at life with his all-merciful eyes. We see him so we can see like him, and with the same infinite compassion.
Similarly, an important part of loving God is our disposition in accepting and yielding to His love. Yielding fully to God’s love enlarges our heart capacity. Our disposition hinges on the full experience of God’s loving embrace; nothing less will fully work.
This is the vibrancy of God’s omnipotent truth and love; we are told to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind” (Luke 10:27, Mark 12:30) because by loving God completely and fully, His full power is unleashed through us and for us. It requires us to be completely still, completely yielded, and let God be (Psalm 46.)
Philippians 2:13 “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”
Psalm 23:5-6 “My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.”
