In spite of the unity of all creation, we mistakenly emphasized our beginning with original sin instead of original blessing – the wonderful unity between creation and Creator.
God inhabits all creation from the very beginning. All our distinctions are merely mental and therefore deceptive. We held on to “answers” that are external to the soul. “Holiness” became a matter of intellect and will, instead of an inner trust and an inner exchange of love. This kept us gazing at our own “performance” instead of searching for the Divine in us and in all things.
Our inner drive for wholeness, an intrinsic desire for God, reveals itself as a drive to give our self totally to something or someone – to Love! This is deep and necessary for the human soul, and when it is missing, very neurotic, confused, and unhappy lifestyles emerge, even widespread mental illness and inner emptiness.
If we begin with the positive, instead of endless moralisms about who is in and who is out, the spiritual journey is more beautiful, more joyful, and all-inclusive. When we see our connection with others before emphasizing our differences, we become much happier, and our world becomes much happier too.
John 17:21 “I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.”
