When we begin to move in love, we bring the Gospel to life because we are each concrete, tangible expressions of God’s presence.
We give flesh to the Word through discernment; which is about listening and responding to that place deep within us where our deepest desires align with God’s desire. We discern by sifting through our impulses, motives, and options to discover which ones lead us closer to divine love and compassion and which ones lead us further away.
Our desire to be successful, well-liked and influential becomes increasingly less important as we move closer to God’s heart. We may even experience an inner freedom to follow a new call or direction as previous concerns move into the background of our awareness. Most rewarding of all is the discovery that because of discernment, we pray more each day and our personal relationship with God deepens.
Philippians 1:9-10 “I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return.”
