We cannot tolerate even a few minutes of unoccupied time. We ceaselessly run after our thoughts like a dog chasing every stick thrown at it. We constantly need something to look at, listen to, or talk about, all to avoid the emptiness.
But it is in this emptiness, in this silence, that all fullness, all light of truth, all goodness, all love, all joy, all peace, all happiness is to be found. If only we learned how beautiful it is to be still.
We need to learn to be still and bring ourselves to the state of complete awareness, for in truth, we are never separate from God, He is ever-present and is never away from us, His beloved.
Hebrews 13:5 “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
