“Begin with the end in mind” is a personal development concept popularized by Stephen Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. It is based on the principle that all things are created twice: the mental (first) creation, followed by the physical (second) creation, just as a building follows a blueprint.
A fundamental flaw in our spiritual development is the concept of Original Sin; that all humans are born evil and depraved. This negative starting point is a major hurdle in creating loving, dignified, and responsive people.
Our core is original blessing, not original sin. Our starting point, and that of all creation, is totally positive – our family origin, our DNA is divine, not depraved.
Instead of worthiness, the objective of our spiritual development must be union; to reconnect us to our original identity “hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3).
1 John 3:2 “We are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is.”
