Christianity is in complete solidarity with love’s deepest earthly course – The Way of the Wound. Jesus was the wounded one, and we believe in a wounded healer. We come to God through our weaknesses, and gain insight into His wisdom not by doing and being right but through our failures, transgressions, our pain, and suffering.
Being hurt and dying are the quickest and most sure paths to truly living.
We, however, deny our pain, sins, and suffering and project them elsewhere. Only our True Self can carry the anxiety within us. Apart from God, we will not have what it takes to hold the anxiety and the fear. If we do not transform our pain, we will always transmit it.
Most of us are quick to react; we pass on the same energy given to us. Jesus did not return the negative energy directed at him. He held it inside and made it into something much better. That is how “he took away the sin of the world.”
This is the miracle we are called to participate in; this is the call to holiness and love. Love enables us to go to the deepest depths of pain and suffering through our solidarity with God, through our embodiment of true and pure love.
Philippians 3:10 “I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death.”
