Change normally has to do with new beginnings. However, transformation happens when something old painfully falls apart.
Transformation is a disconcerting reorientation that can either help people find new meaning or cause them to bitterly resist. Change in itself just happens and it is necessary to yield, living in the confusing dark space for a while, and allowing our self to be regurgitated out on a new and unexpected shore. (Jonah 2:10)
Love always wins over guilt. We sadly settle for the short-run effectiveness instead of the long-term life benefits of grace-filled transformation. We are a culture of progress and efficiency, impatient with gradual growth. God’s way of interior transformation requires patience and is ultimately more effective.
God may allow us to run in the wrong direction until we find a painful path to get back where we need to be—in spite of our self! Looking back fills us with gratitude and awe for God’s work in our life.
2 Corinthians 4:16-17 “Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!”
