Christian spirituality is about being true to what is deepest inside us - the Image and Likeness of God that we must ascend to. This is following Jesus.

But, we can only ascend by descending. We descend through undergoing transformation by facing chaos, diminishment, darkness, evil forces, and even death itself. This is the cross that we must bear.
