rebirth and mindfulness

A major theme in Paul’s writings is that there are two selves competing for manifestation in our lives - the true self which is our essence, and the false self which is our ego.

The Christian journey is about deconstructing the false self and discovering the true self.

At the center of our being is a point which is untouched by sin and by illusion, a point of pure truth, a point which belongs entirely to God, which is never at our disposal, from which God disposes of our lives, which is inaccessible to the fantasies of our own mind or the brutalities of our own will.

Our attachment to our False Self must die to allow our True Self—our basic and unchangeable identity in God—to live fully and freely.

Ephesians 4:22-24 "So get rid of your old self, which made you live as you used to - the old self that was being destroyed by its deceitful desires. Your hearts and minds must be made completely new, and you must put on the new self, which is created in God's likeness and reveals itself in the true life that is upright and holy."
