It is not whether we believe in God or not, but the kind of God we choose to believe in that determines our identity and destiny.
Some believe in a God of wrath and become wrathful, others believe in a God of laws and are stern in demanding standards from others they themselves cannot keep, others conceive God as the operator of the universe, rather than its blessing-Maker.
Our misguided knowledge and understanding of God fail us. Being afraid of God makes us judgmental of others. Being blind to God within us, we fail to make God present to others.
It is the God in whom we choose to believe that determines the rest of our life. It is in our conception of the nature of God where the essence of our spiritual life lies. Made in the image of God, we grow in the image of the God we make for ourselves.
God is love, and by understanding what love is and what love is not, we are renewed in His truth.
Colossians 3:10 “Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.”
