As every person lives physically and animated by his/her spirit, religion's vibrance depends on spirituality.
This is based on the recognition that spirituality that lacks the structural and functional resources of an institutionalized religious tradition is rootless. Simultaneously, a religion that is uninformed by a personal and corporate spirituality is lifeless.
While institutionalized religious traditions may historically be flawed with many weaknesses, as a tradition it is an appropriate context for the development of a mature spirituality for the individual and society.
1 Peter 2:5 "And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple."
