A very common theme throughout scripture is the encouragement to surrender before God. Instead of relying on our instinctual interests, relinquishing ourselves to God is to pursue truth and righteousness above all else.
We surrender not only because we realize that we truly do not know more than the all-knowing, we do so because we entrust ourselves completely - a genuine act of love.
