temporal and eternal

One of the greatest challenges for Christians is maintaining an eternal perspective.

If we, perhaps, remembered the truth that "our life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone" (James 4:14) we would also have an easier time remembering our purpose on earth.

An eternal perspective affects our priorities and actions. Believing and relying on God’s eternal truths will affect our life as follows:

  • We realize that suffering on earth is momentary. The things we experience here on earth are shaping us and preparing us for eternal life.

  • We find it easier to love others. If deeply believing that every soul is eternal, and we are all in desperate need of knowing God and his mercy, we would extend love and mercy to those around us.

  • We will not be fearful. We no longer would be fearful even of death when we embrace and embody the love God has extended to us.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 "Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end."
