Love is beyond good and bad and our deepening in love takes us to a realm that is beyond the reach of judgment.
We know anger is destructive, but in the realm of love and spirituality, anger becomes an instrument for righteousness. Jesus was angered by the moneylenders at the temple and prophets were angered by injustice.
The deeper we grow in love, the more anger is aroused in us whenever love is threatened or when love wanes. Yes, there is a connection between anger and love. More importantly, we need to learn the practice of redirecting our anger into loving action.
Anger does its work when our actions are in tune with the Spirit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22) … actions that overcome evil with good and bring healing instead of hate. This is part of the abundant life promised us, the gift of being fully human and fully alive.
Romans 8:5 “Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.”
