Most of us think that the only problem with the human mind is that it doesn’t have access to all the knowledge it needs. So gathering information, even Biblical info, becomes the great instrument of redemption.
Paul has a far more profound analysis of the problem in Ephesians 4:23 “Be renewed in the SPIRIT of your minds.”
Our mind has what we call a “mindset.” It doesn’t just have a view, it has a viewpoint. It doesn’t just have the power to perceive and detect; it also has a posture, a demeanor, a bearing, an attitude, a bent.
Our mind is not just finite, it is fallen; and in its fallenness, its mindset is hostile to the absolute supremacy of God. We have even come to the point of humanizing God.
The Bible says we have “exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man” (Romans 1:23). And the image in the mirror is the mortal image we worship most.
Romans 12:2 "Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."
