One way for us to be liberated by truth is to understand what truth is not.
It is of our human nature to desire truth, but in most cases what we desire is not “the truth” but “to be right.” Our ego-driven nature seeks justification for our prejudices, our limitations, our selfishness - an argument strong enough to prove we are “right.”
Unfortunately, our desire to be right is complementary to our conviction that somebody else is wrong.
Truth is not only something we must know but also something that illuminates life and directs our behavior and actions.
The truth Christ referred to is everything that is of and from God - truth is God Himself.
John 14:6 “I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."
John 8:32 "And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
