If you understand it, it is not God.

Is it God we trust, or is it our understanding of Him? We would be able to trust God beyond our understanding only by suspending our understanding of God. God is a Mystery beyond anything we can wrap our little brains around.
It is during a time of deep doubt and perplexity, the painful “dark night of the soul” that we could be liberated from our inadequate concepts of God.
Yes, it would be an emptying of all our spiritual understanding and treasures. Yet, what would remain is a tranquillity that is completely one with what/whom we seek; a free fall into the holy abyss. Where understanding and knowledge are replaced by complete surrender, replaced by love.
Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.”
