Meditation and contemplative prayer share many attributes. Contemplative prayer, however, is a wordless openness and relating with God, hence very deeply transformational.
Being still with God releases a torrent of intense emotions, where tears are intermixed with joy.
Unlike the active awareness of trying to understand the things that float to the surface of our consciousness, in contemplative prayer, it’s simply noticing and releasing them to God.
We become aware of what exists within us and have a glimpse of the deep hidden work of restoration that God is doing in our soul.
Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God."
