Vulnerability allows ongoing growth, the never-ending flow of love. Healthily vulnerable people use every occasion to expand, change, and grow. It is risky, however, to be undefended, in a kind of constant openness, because it means others could hurt us.
Actually, "vulnera" is the Latin word for “to wound.” But it is only if we take this risk do we allow the opposite possibility: the other may also gift us, liberate us, love us.
When we live an honestly vulnerable life, handing ourselves over, emptying ourselves out, and then fully receiving grace, there will always be a force flowing through, out, and beyond us - the power of God's Holy Spirit. This is a path to wholeness, a path to holiness.
2 Corinthians 12:9 “'My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.' So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me."
