It is not belief in God that differentiates us, but our image of the God we choose to believe. Some believe in a God of wrath and become wrathful. Some believe God lives in heaven, separate and distant, and consequently find themselves alone, drying up inside from the indifference they feel in the world. Some believe in a God of laws and are consumed by guilt when they themselves break them, expecting and demanding standards they themselves cannot keep.
Until we discover the God we choose to believe, we will never understand anything about our own life. If our God is stern and judging, we will be consumed by guilt. If our God is life and hope, we will live a life overflowing with fullness.
By believing God is in us and drawing from Him, we learn to love ourselves and others as He does.
1 Corinthians 3:16 "Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?"
