The Holy Spirit, as a Person, lives in us and expresses Himself as us ONLY if we yield.
There are three key truths about yielding.
The first is the surrender of our will in order that we may do what God wants rather than what we want. The second truth is trusting and depending on Him. The third truth is following where the Spirit leads, not asking Him to follow us where we want, but to follow Him as He leads.
As it is with human behavior, we need to exercise the steps to yielding to the Spirit daily until it becomes a habit.
Galatians 5:22-23 "But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!"
